Oakland Park. How well I remember. Used to cover a VA clinic there. :-)

Weekend past I attended a church fair in Oakland Park, florida, Ft. Lauderdale are. It was well attended and they actually had seminars in which I participated by giving a lecture (powerpoint) on prostate cancer and early detection. It was well attended and I had really good feedback immediately following the seminar and I am still getting phone calls 3 days llater. Free PSA was offered to the public. Well, actually the church paid broward General a fee to come and do the screening. It really was a success. This is predominatently Carribean men. This weekend I have another speaking engagement in the fort lauderdale area. The word is getting out there slowly. The church that I will be speaking at promoted the event on the radio and sent out flyers. Should be a good turn out. I wish I had a way of offering free screening at this location. I called Broward General but they require payment.

Patrick: Don't try to do everything in one week. We can give you at least two weeks -- and maybe more.

On sunday I visited a health fair at a church located in Ft. Lauderdale florida. I actually was invited to talk to men about prostate cancer and early detection. After speaking to several men, all from the carribean, I came to the conclusion that the few who were willing to listen to what I had to say were really interested, but they really had no access to screening. They basically had no medical insurance. Help! Where do we go from here? We have alot of work to do in that community. I haave 2 invite over the next 2 weeks to speak to carribean men in lauderhill. Stay tuned.

Its gonna take a few weeks to get things up and running. I have forwarded the link to Jamaica to someone I know and asked him to pass it around for me. Let's see who bite.
