My latest PSA fifteen months post cryosurgery is 1.0, so continuing to fall. I am feeling cautiously optimistic. This post replaces the previous one where I said thirteen months.

Rob,

How are things going? Did you get PSA results yet? Mine are usually called to me on day 3 after blood tests. I see a Prostate Oncologist this coming Monday and will then decide on treatment after he answers several questions that I have.

I could not find a group that is specific to Robo asist surgery here on the web site?? but here is a link to an interesting article about RARP http://www.fimnet.fi/sjs/articles/SJS22009-76.pdf?s_cid=citation I am a member there so I am not sure if you have to register to read it or not.

My best to all,
Glenn

Next PSA is on 10/26.
Taking
A very good Vitamin mixture from LEF which includes Boron
Milkthistle
Vitamin D
Also eating lots of berries, strawberries, blueberries , raspberries.
Eating lots of broccoli, cauliflower.
Eating very little Red Meat
Drinking lots of Soy Milk
Will be looking for a value of 1.2 or below. I generally cut out all suplements about 4weeks before any test.

Robert,
Can see why you continued to be concerned, your PSA numbers were all over the place. Good to read your PSA is stabaize at this time. We pray that stability continues.
PSA in my case has been steadily increasing after my focal of May 2008. In May 2009 it was 1.0, still on 3-month test and will find results this afternoon. Unfortunately my cryo-urologist has left practice in town. I now have a non-cyro urologist. If PSA increases today, I plan to speak to my insurance company about driving the hour to Hilton Head SC.
Keep the faith,
Pete

In early May of 2009 I had a rebiopsy to see why my PSA had not come down and was bouncing around so much. The biopsy was negative.

Now 11 weeks after the biopsy and 11 months after the cryo procedure, my PSA is 1.2 which is not too far from the range we were expecting. So I am feeling a bit better. I had been on a 30 day course of Bactrim and was on about a 20 day course of Alleve prior to this latest PSA test. I went off the Alleve as I did not want that to artificially lower my PSA.

I will run another test in about 6 weeks to see what kind of stability we have and then every 2 months until we hit the 2 year post treatment mark. Then the plan is to move to every 3 months for a year and then 4 months etc.

I will be posting the results of other blood tests PAP, CGA, NSE soon.

Currently on a month of Bactrim and Alleve twice a day and will run next PSA in late July which will be 10 or so weeks after the TRUS biopsy. If that is at or below the last 2.6 measurement, then will run another the first week of October. I am really looking for it to be lower than 1.0 in the end BUT as I did have a biopsy I will be a bit patient. Historically it seems to take a while for my PSA to drop after biopsy.

As some may know I have been disappointed in my results after subtotal cryo.
To reccap
November 3 months post cryo PSA 2.6
December 4 months post cryo PSA 5.0
January 5 months post cryo PSA 3.0
February 6 months post cryo PSA 3.7
March 7 months post cryo PSA 0.9
April 2009, 8 months post cryo PSA 4.0
May 1, 2009 9 months post cryo PSA 1.4
May 4, 2009 9 months post cryo PSA 2.62
15 core TRUS biopsy negative with some inflamation in the left lobe.
Consulted with
1 Other Cryo expert
2 Oncologist
3 Surgeon
4 Top Radiation Expert
All basically said to sit tight and do nothing for the next 6 months to a year.
Checking PSA every 3 or 6 months depending upon who I believe.
Then to have a thorough mapping biopsy again if my psa does not go down or if it goes up.
