In my short 20 months since LRP surgery the most dominant topic I see discussed everywhere seems to be erectile dysfunction. With such overwhelming interest, and need for valid information, I would be very interested in a worthwhile educational program on the topic. It would need both scientific facts as well as true "field data" from those of us who live with various degrees of the condition everyday. If the government can fund a program to study the halucengenic effect of licking a poisonous frog they should be willing to fund an intense study of ED after LRP or RP. Afterall, most of Congress are probably affected by it directly, or indirectly.

In response to the email from Anne Katz asking for an inidcation of interest for an internet based educational program on erectile problems, and willingness to pay something.....I don't think we can have too much education. owever, how would this differ from this website? In terms of cost - that would be based on what the program offers - if payng something will provide a new and better service, I would be willing.

Thank you John Cochrane, for the information about the penile implant, and also for the question about the connection between erections appearing in the night but not from conventional and proven methods. I would like to hear if others have had that experience, and what it may mean, if anyone knows.

I would also like more information about experiences with different kinds of implants.

I have had no erections since my Robotic surgery and its been just over a year now. I'm not sure what to do - but wait?

Doctors should offer the option of an implant at the time of prostate surgery. In my opinion it is not worth the struggle of pills, shots, and exterier devics to be unsatisified. I wish they would have done my implant when they did my RP. I have a lot of younger pc contacts (guys who had rp) and I have not heard of one who is remotely happy with his erections. I love my implant. I think I mentioned that before.

My situation may be like that mentioned by Bill Martin. After NS-RRP, (N+) and 19 months of ADT, I am two months into intermittance. T=550. I have awakened to a spontaneous nocturnal erection 7-8 times. Semi turgid mostly, though fully stiff twice. Waking manipulation w/ or w/o sildenafil provides no result. I am confused as to how I can respond to unknown reflex at night and not to conventional and proven methods at other times. Prior to surgery ED was not an issue. If there is a reason for this, or even conjuecture, that is something other than "men respond differently" I would like to hear it.

And Bill, a member of my USTOO group is a VERY satisfied implant user. Need I say more?

Like I have mentioned earlier, my friend was told very little by his surgeon. He was referred to an ED specialist but again was seemingly told very little. We both attended a 'Men's Health Forum' here recently, run by the Prostate Foundation of Australia and one of the speakers was a well known Sex Therapist, Dr Rosie King. I think we gained more insight into ED issues and Penile Rehabilitation from Dr King than from anyone else, albeit a brief talk. I had no idea of the importance of night time erections and thus the recommendation for night time Viagra (or alternatives). The only other time I had heard of Penile Rehabilitation was from an article I was sent from Terry Herbert (thank you). Still learning however, one day at a time.

I do have to wonder whether some of the ED specialists perhaps treat ED in men who have undergone treatment for PC the same way they treat all ED issues. I am not sure they necessarily understand the impact that PC itself has on a man, that treatment undertaken for PC has on a man. I think that some ED specialists need more information and training in regard to issues that are specific to Prostate Cancer patients.

I am almost 4 years post op. A little incontinent at end of busy day. I have used Levitra and Cialis. Seems like Levitra works better if I wait 45minutes to 1 hour. I tried Cialis after 1 hour but does not work that way. We have had penetation sex with Levitra a number of times but only once with Cialis. Seems like the orgasm is week and then I collapse too soon. Any suggestions?

I have been impotent since my surgery two years ago. During that time, I have had some gradual return to potency. Several times have woken up with a fairly ful erection. Once have been stimulated to erection by my wife (yippee!). My penis certainly doesn't respond like it used to - seems to be unpredictable. We use the needle - still is somewhat painful. Latley I acquiried a vacuum pump - which seems to lead to more fulness. The instructions say that regular use of the pump will help in recovery. Anyone know anything about that? I have an appointment to explore surgically placing a device in my penis, with a pump. Anyone have any experience with that?

I have had just one small instance of incontinence since my surgery. It was only four weeks ago. From what I've read on YANA some men achieve erection a while after their surgery but I guess it would take a while. Does age have anything to with results?
