I am a week out from finishing my radiation treatment and noticing it. It was a bit unexpected to be sure

Are dry orgasms to be expected as a result of external radiation?
Yes. The amount of output rapidly diminishes. I'm 5 years out from IMRT and I've been dry for quite a while now. It can be a bit disconcerting at first.

I had 38 IMRT treatments back in the spring of 2005. I did not miss one day of work during those almost eight weeks. I had my treatments at 7AM and then went to work. The only side effect I really experienced was some fatigue in the last two weeks. I was pretty much back to normal a few weeks later.

Well, my radiation oncologist was very good to that regard, as the last session was ending, the technicians played Pomp and Circumstance over the PA and I received a "Diploma" signed by everyone from the office. I thought the gesture was great and in keeping with the feeling of having "graduated"

I just thought that I would post some fairly good news for those looking at how radiation affects people. My husband just finished 40 treatments and towards the end of his treatment he had a "little bit of burning" when he urinated . Other than that he said that he was ok...not very tired...no bladder or rectum problems. How come these radiation oncologists don't give out certificates of completion for this? Psychologically speaking, I think this was a heck of a lot tougher to do than a night school course. We're having a "Glow in the Dark" party to celebrate the completion. Everybody has to wear something that glows in the dark so he doesn't feel alone.

I am now done with my 43 radiation sessions. Not as bad as I though it would be, but not quite pleasant either. I've had some significant discomfort in the bladder and in the whole urinary tract for which I have taken Flomax. The medication has helped enormously. The only significant side effect has been fatigue, I am mostly unable to concentrate, and jut feel tired.
In three weeks I'll have my first blood test and will then see if this was worth it.

Finishing my 4th week this week. Getting a bit tired and the prostate feels enlarged sometimes, but taking Flomax helps a lot. So far I've been fortunate enough to only have some minor side effects... but I am only at half point now, let's see how this turns out after the next 4 weeks.

Guys...thanks for all of the comments. Helps to hear from those who have gone through it.

I had 6 months of rectal bleeding, daily. Gradually tapered off but is somewhat infrequent now that I've been taking cortisone suppositories. Not sure what will happen when I go off of those. The bleeding was never bad and is not a concern to me as long as it doesn't lead to something worse, like an infection or a perforation of some sort.
