I have had a saturation biopsy which did not detect my cancer. I then had the TURP procedure. This was done in the hospital and I stayed one night and had to wear a catheter for a few days. It was a larger catheter than I wore later after my RP. H...

Steve, Actually, when I asked my uro what a saturation biopsy entailed he described the procedure and I told him that sounded like a TURP and he said that was what it was..I suppose a saturation biopsy could be interpreted differently depending on...

Art, Please check you last post. I think you meant TRUS (transrectal ultrasound) biopsy not TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate). These are very different procedures. Thanks, Steve Z

Randy, You need to find out from your doctor what he has in mind first. Call him up and let us know. As your current post currently stands, readers don't know what procedure you are asking them to comment on. Steve Z

Hi Art,
Welcome to the site. Usually biopsies are 12 cores, six on each 1/2 of the prostate. A saturation biopsy could be 20 to 60 cores depending on the urologist. How was your DRE, any indications of abnormalaties? Please keep us posted as to how things go tomorrow. Thanks. George
