Running in the 100M, 200M and the Javelin throw.. Best time in 100 M = 19 sec.Got to get it down so retained a speed coach for this old lacrosse player (age 76) Got a new awareness program in Colorado, something new and it is really moving. You keep up with what you are doing. IT IS SO MEANINGFULL!!!!! George

Hi Darren,

Thanks for your comments and I am glad you are doing well. You triathaletes scare me. Your age at the time of diagnosis is the main reason why I am out there, like you trying to spread the word. I am just tired of hearing the media talk about prostate cancer being slow growing. As in both of our cases, what happened if we didn't get screened for another 10 years, well I guess our slow growing years might have been behind us. I am trying to reach out to the 40+ crowd. We had surgery 5 days apart. Do you feel that your fitness aided in your recovery. Just out of curiousity, which newspaper was the article in, because it was originally printed 2/15/09. Keep in touch.

Also please note that the Prostate Cancer Mission is putting together a swim event in North Miami with Athletes for a Cure later in the year.

Darren: Please "">contact Mary Lynn Potenteau -- the Executive Director of the Prostate Cancer Mission too. Could you come to the "Open Conversation" in North Miami on May 9? You could meet with Patrick, Mary Lynn, Dr. Krongrad, and others there to best see how we could all work together in Florida!

Welcome Darren...I read most of your blog and it was uplifting. P cancer runs in my family and at age 53 I was dx'ed. I've warned my younger brothers to be vigilant as they are in a very high percentile to get it too. Your story might convince my baby brother of 44!
