Hi David. Glad to hear that you are doing well.

I could do with a week on a beach somewhere myself. Perhaps Lana'i!

Re the article you referred me to ... several people made sure I saw that. Please see Chatter about down-staging with ipilimumab prior to surgery on the main web site for our "take" on this report.

Thanks David for your inquiry. My PSA was .66 in November, and 0.68 in March so I decided to forego the radiation treatment. I will have another PSA test the 19th and will reasses the situation then. The radiaologist and urologist recommend radiation, but I am very skeptical as I have been above 0.20 for almost 6 years - that lowers the probability of the PCa being confined to the prostate fossa. My inclination is to go back on casodex if the PSA is up again, and see what happens. When I was on it before, the PSA result promptly dropped and I would rather take the drug than undergo radiation.

What do you think? (I've sought a second opinion and was advised not to do the radiation.) I'm in the middle.

Hi David, thanks. I decided to not undergo the radiation, at this time, and not even sure about later. I thought the risks of side effects outweighed, at least for me, the possible benefits. To undergo radiation without knowing where the cancel cells are, with the hope that they are confined to the prostate bed, just wasn't enough for me. I'll go in a month for another PSA - the doctor, a radiation oncologist, did not pressure me at all, and was very agreeable and understanding. He said he would not be concerned unless the PSA result was 1.0 or higher, and my result last Nov was 0.66.

I do not know if this is the best decision to make because I am the kind of guy who wants to follow a doctor's recommendation. But I just couldn't go through with it for several reasons.

Well guys my doc just call me and said my PSA was now .1. Looks like its still on the move, be it slow.0.08 March, 0.09 June and 0.1 September. He says it is still very low but he wants me to have a consultation with a radiation doc just to see what he thinks. It sure is disgusting... Keep up the good work ! David

David: You may want to think hard before you rush into IMRT unless there's a big jump at the end of the month. Your PSA velocity is still incredibly low based on the current data, and you have no idea whether the progression is local or distant (if there is any progression at all). Come back and let us all know what the next reading is. It could just as easily be 0.05!

Thanks David, you can bet I'll have a great time. I hear you on the awesome site this is. While I have some great friends from other sites, I joined and brought some of them over too. Dr. K and Mike are great guys. I look forward to the interactions also. Be well...

Hiya David. When you say that your PSAs have been 0.07, 0.08, and 0.09, what time frame is that over, every 3 months since last March or more frequently? Are you sure that your PSA went to the same lab and was tested with the same test for all three values?

hi David,
From Las Vegas. But I was in Trussville, by Birmingham, just a couple months ago meeting another PCa survivor. Welcome to a wonderful site. Great picture! I love the outdoors myself. I will be up in the cool mountains tomorrow. Have a look around. My best wishes for you in the coming months.
