It is certainly the right of any of us to gamble with our lives and the well-being of our loved ones. Whether it's good judgment is another matter. Donsbach the quack is well-covered on Quackwatch in 23 files: http://www.quackwatch.org/search/web...

Mike S wrote enthusiastically about Prostasol. The decline in PSA, if attributable to nothing else, was likely the result of the undisclosed diethylstilbestrol (synthestic estrogen) in the stuff. This was reported by Danish medical authorities in...

Prostasol. After having my prostate gland removed due to cancer, my PSA climbed to 15. Two months after beginning Prostasol, it was at 0.2. That was about four years ago. Today. it is at ).1. Prostasol is not a cure but it does subdue PCA. Join...

Don - I completely understand your frustration. My husband had been going for physicals every year - no problems, right? Suddenly in June 2007, his doc says , "oh, your PSA has crossed the magic "4" number (which doesn't exist anymore) so you migh...

Ah ... The presence of symptoms changes everything. He should have sent you to a urologist. The urologist may still have told you you didn't need a biopsy ... but I'll bet he would have told you to come back in 6 months for another PSA and DRE. T...

Don: So if your PSA was 2.5 when you asked for the biopsy, I can see why he would have advised against it. However, that doesn't excuse his manner -- which is a whole separate issue. I am sure there are a lot of primary care physicians who, face...

I'm 51, psa's were 2.0, 2.5 , then " The " 4.1 My rage is that " I ASKED FOR A BIOPSY " that's the absolute , as I wanted a true indicator not a "guess" I believed in being pro-active. With all the info out in public I was spurned to be pro-active...

Don,

The DR provided Viagra but I never needed to use it. As for the incontinence, I notice that occasionally, I will feel a very minor "drip" get through. Seems to happen when I am very tired. I can live with it for now but will mention it to the DR when I see him again. Never really did the "kegal exercises" on a regular basis. Maybe that would help.

As for my diet, I do eat fish and will occasionally have something with egg whites in it so I am not a true vegan. Also, I have to confess that I went to a high end steak house recently and did have a steak! However, I have had meat maybe 2 or 3 times over the last year versus what I used to do - meat at least once a day, so I have definitely changed my eating habits.

I also have the "Anti cancer A NEW WAY OF LIFE " by David Servan-Schreiber, MD, PhDis, in addition to "Eat to Beat Prostate Cancer" (David Ricketts) and the Michael Milken Cookbook. The information in the books is similar. One thing I need to do that is recommended by the book you have is cut back on sweets. I still like to have some type of dessert with my meal (one without dairy, etc.) but the changes I have incorporated into my diet have been pretty drastic so I'll work on that one over time.

Sounds like you are approaching this like I am, maybe even a bit more conservatively (vegan). While I understand the the iron clad "proof" is lacking, I am hopeful that there is something to the studies that suggest that a prostate cancer patient may benefit from dietary and lifestyle changes. In any case, I feel better and believe I am healthier as a result of the changes I have made.

Thanks
Jack
