Regarding Africa, PCI also participated in the AORTIC conference in Tanzania last month. They had about 700 attendees. We weren't able to go to the meetings but sent materials that were distributed at the meetings.

Manny - how are you my friend? Sounds like life is great!!! Here too. So funny you asked about Africa. Jimmy and I are planning a trip to Africa next year. Planning to be in Liberia for missions a couple of days, then do three days of PCI meetings in Kenya and surrounding areas, then on to Tanzania for missions and possible PCI meetings as well. We're working with Lucy in Kenya, who is setting up an organization for PCa awareness. I was thinking of you last week and wondered what you've been doing. Would you be interested in going next year? Maybe we can make a group trip out of it. I'm in Va Beach. If you're close by anytime, we'd love to meet with you. We're just down the street from CBN. I'll send you my cell phone by e-mail. Give me a call. This could be really exciting!

Would love to, right now I am very busy on an assignment and here in Fairfax, Va. I work in DC and may again be involved with Africa projects. What is it exactly that you do to assist Africa? My assignment will probably be up the end of July at which time my wife will be here to help me drive back to FL.

Manny - Why don't you join us in the Africa group? We're working on a campaign to reach Africa, and I believe your experience would be a great benefit to the group. We're in Va. Beach. If you and your wife are ever in VA, we'd love to meet you.

When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, I listened in private to what my urologist advised me to do. I was given options which required intense consideration. My wife was not with me when I was given the results of my biopsis, but later joined me in researching my options. The decision with all of the risks were pretty well evaluated by me and my children. I received input from my loved ones and a second opinion, then I made a decision. I wasn't forced into choosing surgery versus other treatments. I was fully supported by all of my family once I opted for Dr. Krongrad and the radical prostatectomy. I have learned to accept and adjust to various aspects of the effects and implications of the surgery. Living life after a prostatectomy requires some process of acceptance, courage and the willingness to keep a positive attitude is best. Lucky for me, having more children was not part of the question, nor did I have any other interests that I had to consider or consult. I had an article published in one of my professional organization magazines about my experience. I was able to meet someone in South Africa who read the article, contacted me and actually benefited from what I went through. This site is an excellet tool for those facing prostate cancer. Denial is a killer.
