welcome, mt husband was told he has pc dec. 2008. our dr. told us he had to do alot of tests before he would do the radical p surgery, my husband is 65 very active, no high blood pressure etc. but the dr, wanted alot of heart tests, stress, ekg, etc. and we found out he had 99% blockage in one side and bottom of his heart. we had the stent put in 2 weeks ago. now waiting to haave pc surgery, because of the rx. from the surgery, plavax, etc. he is feeling great, but he has never felt bad, just had a rise in psa, that sent us to the dr. then he found the heart problem. we dont understand how he has these problems and feels great. thanks for joining us here

Hello, Oktay (is that your name?), and thank you for your reply. It is not that I have questions of you at this time since I have spent countless hours in research and study of our insidious men's disease for the past 12 years. It is more that I like to keep in touch with others who have an interest in prostate cancer and can then have the opportunity to bounce concerns off them for their consideration and comment. In so doing, we both become better educated regarding prostate cancer and its treatment

Hello, Oktay,

I hesitate to suggest orchiectomy to any man since once this procedure has been administered there is no turning back. Androgen deprivation therapy with medication at least provides the patient the opportunity of intermittent therapy should that patient be able to bring his PSA and testosterone down to "castrate" levels and maintain those levels for a reasonable period of time - 9 months to a year - then be able to experience a testosterone return to recharge the system until such time as the PSA may again rise its ugly head. But when that does occur, back to ADT following the same procedure and time frame as before. It has worked very well for me the past nearing twelve years.

Hi Oktay. We're discussing a study from Ankara relating to female sexuality. Someone asked a question about cultural effects. Maybe you want to comment.

Hi, Oktay--

Thank you for the welcome. No, I haven't had the opportunity to travel to Turkey, but it sounds fascinating. Do you live there now?

Thanks. If you could, it would be kind ... and then you would also know what your patients were being told too! :O)

Dear Oktay, can you please tell me whether there are specific web sites about prostate cancer in Turkish for patients, and if so what their web addresses are. I would like to include them on our list of international patient web sites on the main site.
