I get my tri-mix from University Compounding Pharmacy in San Diego. My evaluation and prescription came from my health care team at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, so I presume there may not have been a local option. Getting the right mix…

I get my Bi-mix from Franck's pharmacy. They ship anywhere in the U.S. Their number is 800-622-4510. There are also other pharmacies online that ship. Hope that helps.

Fred, My husband kept his green box in the closet out of sight. If you have a bed side table with drawer, you might keep a few in there or tucked in your underwear drawer on your dresser.Refill as needed. Use a seperate trash container with lid. Yo…

Ok, haven't been on here much the last few months. Richard did have his first PSA and it was 0.0. He has regained full urinary control but nothing in the erection dept. He does have sensations and orgasm, just not erections. His Dr. wants him to us…

Optimizing functional recovery and what to do if there are problems

Mike S wrote a glowing report about Prostasol. The decline in PSA, if attributable to nothing else, was likely the result of the undisclosed diethylstilbestrol (synthestic estrogen) in the stuff. This was reported by Danish medical authorities in N…

Dad is going to be there to spoil the grandchildren! I had my prostate gland removed 10 years ago due to prostate cancer at the age of 51. My PSA was 41 and my Gleason score was 7; not a propitious situation. After the surgery, my PSA was undectabl…

Oh I already told him that!! I also told him that's what was great about the leg bag for the cath. He has to get up and walk to the br to empty it every hour!!!

Yay Richard! Tell him to do it TWICE tomorrow! Yes I did have a job as the Grand Inquisitor in a former life! :O)

We go to the Dr. this Thursday at 1:30 and he said he'll have the final path then. If everything looks okay, he'll also get the cath out!!! He got fully dressed today and walked to the end of the block and back!!

Paula & Richard - great news! Good to hear that things went well. As everyone has said - do take it easy. You're recovery will be much quicker. Please update us once you have the pathology report back. We're believing, with you, for a good report!

Our prayers are with you. My husband just had his Friday and came home Sat. Let us know how you do.

He already dislikes the cath. The leg bag has to be emptied about every hour and half, but I told him that means he has to get up and WALK!!! He's really moving slow and I don't expect much else. I know he won't try anything too soon. He hates being…

Tomorrow is the big day. Again (haha) we done everything we can to be ready for surgery. So far no phone call to cancel like last time. Richard is on his liquid diet today preparing for his "cleansing" tonight prior to surgery.
He has instructed me that I better have food ready when he wakes up.
I've really appreciated all the suport and info we've gotten from this group. Thanks so much!!
I'll update as soon as I can get back to a computer, probably late Saturday or Sunday.

Dear Paula,

I will be going on Friday to schedule my surgery. I'm optimistic, but not looking forward to it. It must be hard for both of you, dealing with the waiting.

My wife and I are blessed with 5 children. Ages 20, 18, 16, 12 and 6. So far, we've told the oldest two. We must have done a good job of emphasizing the positive, because neither seems that worried. We will have to tell the younger three at some point, of course. It will be a bit more delicate. The 12 year old and 16 year old are both in special ed.

Hope the operation and recovery will be a great success.

Yours truly,
Allan

Last week Ruthie asked me what I wanted for my 50th birthday. As per usual, I said I had no idea but really didn't want another sweater. Now I know. For my 50th birthday, which will fall on March 13, 2009, I want all the good wishes to transfer to Richard and you.

Richard!!!! Look at This! Listen to Paula, don't you know she is always right! Commenting on robotic surgery, Mike is right, get a very very experienced surgeon. Cover all you options, look around this site for discussions. Ask questions, lots of support and info here.

Thanks Paula. That extra information is very helpful, particularly the family history.

I hope you have arranged to go somewhere with significant experience using the robotic procedure for surgery. It takes as many as 200 cases to "learn" how to do this well, and a good deal more to learn how to do it really well. You don't want your husband to be someone's 10th case!

Based on the info you entered above, the Kattan nomograms give you 91% probability of cancer-free survival at 5 years and an 87% probability at 10 years. The longer you remain cancer-free (i.e., no rising PSA after surgery) the longer you are likely top remain cancer free.

Mike

Another one was PIN and another was highly suspicious. His Gleason was 7 (4 + 3) and his PSA was 5.7. He has a strong family history with his paternal GF, dad, Uncle and a older brother dianosed. In fact our diagnosis came about after his brother's diagnosis last Nov. He is scheduled for robotic removal on March 13th, 2009.
