Dear Pete: We need to differentiate between your pre-surgical and you post-surgical situation because of the positive lymph nodes found at the time of surgery. You clearly had (even if you don't now have) the beginnings of metastatic disease. Ther…

It appears to this non-medic that Pete has advanced PCa. Something that is absent from Pete's report is whether he had the CGA, NSE, PAP and CEA tests recommended by Dr. Strum. If so, what results? If not, why not? Did the onc discourage it? Pete…

Pete, A TADT I believe Sam was saying is Total Androgen Deprevation Therapy, which is usually seen as ADT3 or CAB, complete androgen blockage. This would consist of a LHRH (Lupron), Casodex, (Bicalutamide) which blocks the testosterone receptors on…

I am preparing for an appointment with my Oncologist. At times I think my concerns and desire to follow up may be silly and of no importance. Are they? My situation: I am working on questions of my being Gleason 9 at RP 2 years ago and undetectable…

About Me:
I have recently written my PCa Story and decided to post it. To my surprise I found a major positive shift in my mental and emotional attitude once I had finished writing my story. Fighting with depression has been tough! I do not know if this positive shift will last or not...........one day at a time!

Hello Pete

Thank you for your comment on my profile, which I've just read. You may have seen my other posts on James - on the Forum and in a couple of groups. I've also just joined the Surgery group, and have added a post on James' surgery, which was on Tuesday (2 days ago).

I have started to read your story, but stopped briefly to thank you for your contribution.

I have quite a few concerns now about the post-op period. James is still in hospital, and may be there a couple of more days.

I can see already from your story that you have had both pre and post diagnosis experiences that many share.

I can personally relate to the issues you had regarding blood tests. I'm now undergoing comprehensive tests for renal impairment subsequent to a recent full blood picture which showed abnormal kidney function. Despite strongly advocating annual full blood pictures for my spouse and close friends, and insisting they ask for copies of all test results, I didn't do this myself. When my doctor told me "all results are within normal ranges" year after year, I assumed he included kidney function tests, as he had done for my spouse and friend. I was appalled to discover that the recent tests included kidney function readings for the first time!

Anyway, I digress... Back to reading your story.

I hope to hear that you are now doing well!

My best wishes

Anne

Pete ( everyone), Thank you for your interest. We saw the urologist yesterday. He said "you have cancer on both sides of your prostate." PSA 6.3, Gleason 3+3 6. Steve is a little freaked out right now. We were referred to a surgeon in Little Rock to discuss options. He is kind of letting me "run the show" right now. This concerns me. I know it is a normal reaction for some. I tend to be a force to be reconed with when there is a problem to solve. He doesn't want to research options, etc. So, I'm doing it then telling him, whether he wants to hear it or not. We see the surgeon on the 26th. I'm leaning toward going to a urology oncologist, not a surgeon (just). So, I'll update when I know more. Lyn

Pete,
I read your story once again afer we shared emails and decided to post here. When I read the reasons for you telling your story, I wanted you to know that I too have fears of having deeper morbid grief over my PCa, especially trying to cope with the side effects of radiation and hormone therapy which bear constantly and heavily on my QOL, and also the anticipated future battles with further treatment which leads to my death. HOWEVER, reading your story and experiencing your struggles has helped me cope in a more positive way with my cancer. Knowing this, may you rise above your pain and find your hope again. Your Friend George "Peace"

Hi Pete,
Well, I read your delightful story and want to know where you get all these pretty young girls to do the you know what. I sure know about the crying and appreciate the emotional bits as I too went through these. I would be glad to do a spiritual "rain dance" with you and now wonder what you are doing on the faith and healing site. maybe that is where I should be. Anywhay, thanks for finding us and sharing. This is part of healing. The sharing. It heals the soul and opens the heart. A thing we men do worse but end up doing it better as we grieve together. Welcome Pete, welcome aboard and thanks for the opportunity to know you. This will get better I hope. Your Friend George

Everyone does their bit ... even if all they do is tell another person about the site who then finds it helpful!
