About Me:

Aloha Rick D,
Thanks, yes I've been exercising for 40 + years. Usually day 1, 45 min of streching, position movement & free weights. Then day 2, walk or ride off road bicycle for 30 to 60 min. This does not include biking the old sugar cane roads, or hikes with friends around the Big Island. The Lupron Depot shot sites in my hips still hurts. I was scheduled for three years, but asked to stop after one. I would do almost anything to avoid chemical ADT.
Thanks,
Joe

Hi Rick,
Long time no tak. Commenting on your letter concerning the discussion with the doc on long term hormone therapy. This is a subject that the PCa docs are hiding from and all of them are cowards for not bringing the subject to the forefront. Question: Is Hormone Therapy an acceptable treatment for PCa? Answer: Absolutely Not as it is as barbaric as medical castration. If this is the best medical science can do after being handed billions of dollars for research, then they have failed miserably. Hormone Therapy should be considered as cruel and unusual punishment. The worst of the worst tretment. It is INHUMANE and a shameful chapter in medicine history. Ranks up ther with leaches and boiling in oil. I dare one doctor to challenge this concept. George

Hi Rick,
Please email me the pdf of Exercise therapy across the prostate cancer continuum, which you mentioned on you exercise page. My doctor wants me to dump some weight to improve post surgical recovery. I'm not sure that I'm going with surgury, but I know I need to loose the spare tire. My email address is primal(dot)truth@gmail(dot)com.

Thanks for the encouragement re exercise, Rick. I worked with a physical trainer at my gym out here in Brentwood while undergoing IMRT/IGRT. He's a great trainer and I learned a lot about core exercises from him but it took a lot of time to explain what PCa was (he's 29) as well as the effects of radiation and ADT on bones & muscles. He finally got it, but I was interested to see your link to the Sunflower Wellness organization and realize there are trainers out there who already get it. I look forward to the word about the special needs of Ca survivors being spread through the fitness world.
Re Zometa: my urologist is at Pacific Urology in Walnut Creek and he's a fan of zoledronic acid, during ADT especially for guys w/ osteopinea like me. I think 4x per year is the recommended dose for prophylaxis, but it is expensive.

Hi Rick
You will be more than welcome to either of the support groups. If it is to the Jerusalem group we can pick you up on our way. The Ranana group is Hebrew speaking even though there are a few Anglo members.
Stay in touch

Hi Rick:
I didn't know that about skim milk! Thanks for passing it on. We went to the radiologist today and each time I go to a new doctor I ask certain questions. The urologist had told us to just "eat healthy" and not worry about it too much which surprised me. The radiologist said pretty much the same thing today so I finally said that I had heard a mediterranean type diet was really best when dealing with cancer. His response was "that's to prevent cancer". Oh. So I then asked if preventing a recurrance was the same thing as preventing cancer and he replied that it won't make much difference. Maybe I am looking too hard but I would think that it makes more of a difference than he is implying. What's your thoughts on this?

Hi Rick,
Hope you are doing well and keeping up the good fight. I am struggling a little bit as I now have 5 drugs in me called ADT3 + 2,
these being 30 day shot of Lupron, 12 month implant Vantus and two sub cu shots of Degarelik 30 day, plus Avodart and Casodex. Why? But tonight I just ran my fastest time in the 100M. I am in the Summit Cancer Exercise Program and it is very good. A lot of free weights and stuff. I am able to bench press 175, use to do 200 so am getting better. Leg Press 410, not bad. This summer when I am better financial position, I want you to help me find a used skulling boat, single so I can enter the olympics net year. Wish you the best and thanks for all you did for me during my bad times. George

Hi Rick

There seems something wrong with the email address that you gave me. My email is lenny.hrsch@gmail.com.
The pca specialists are upset about the recent controversy about psa testing. Besides my Foundation there are no active movements concerned with pca.
Looking forward to seeing you.
