HI Rick; My case is very similar to yours. I did have surgery in Feb 08. 8 months later, the cancer was back. So, looking back, I'm not so sure the surgery alone was the best initial approach. Yes it did remove the main source of the cancer, but wa…

Made it back from surgery and am recovering... Pathology was good, with negative margins and no detectible spread outside the capsule, but *very close* to penetrating. I'm hoping I caught this just in time, and I'm glad I chose surgery just for thi…

Aloha Rick, If I may suggest, please discuss with your surgen possible unexpected outcomes. One of which is what will he/she do if it is found that the tumor has spread upward into the bladder. Using the yananow.com site you can develope a list of s…

Hi Joe I read your journal and saw how much you've gone through in the past couple years. I'm glad you're finally coming out of the main ordeal, and with a low PSA. I have to say that it re-affirmed my decision to postpone ADT+radiation as long as…

Aloha Rick, Two years ago, I only knew that I was in trouble and the decision for treatment was suggested to me by a urologist who's husband was a radiation oncologist. You are right about three different treatment side effects vs two treatment side…

Well, after weighing all the data, and factoring in my personality, I think I've decided... I'm going for the big challenge - Da Vinci surgery in two weeks. I think it has the best chance of a long term cure, which I've realized has become my main…

Rick - welcome to the network. This period of time between diagnosis and treatment is the hardest. Once you make your decision and you're settled, you'll be fine (or as fine as you can be). We found that once we made the decision for treatment, then we could stop gathering more and more info, which was just making the process even harder. I see you've gotten really good input from other members. If you have any questions, let us know and we'll be glad to help. Let us know what you decide to do. We're here to support you through this journey.
