I was on testosterone replacement therapy for 5 years (off and on) before I developed my PCA. I cannot prove but suspect this was a major contributing factor. Robert

I can think of three possible courses of action. 1) An endorectal coil MRI using Combidex (only offered in the Netherlands as far as I know). Yes some doc here will tell you Combidex has not been approved by the FDA but the university of Washingto...

Kathy, Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I experienced some of what Dana is describing. I have at times been depressed but I would not exactly call what I experienced so much a depression as just a tiredness. I recall experiencing mostly a...

PSA test coming up again on August 28th

I will be having another PSA test again on August 28th.
The last one in July was 1.2
I am hoping to get something in the range of 1.2 + or - 10% so I can hopefully establish a baseline.
Ideally it will be 1.2 or below.
Then I will increase the time between PSA tests, first to 2 months and then to 3 months

PSA 11 MONTHS after the sub total cryo procedure and 11 weeks after the biopsy

In early May of 2009 I had a rebiopsy to see why my PSA had not come down and was bouncing around so much. The biopsy was negative.

Now 11 weeks after the biopsy and 11 months after the cryo procedure, my PSA is 1.2 which is not too far from the range we were expecting. So I am feeling a bit better. I had been on a 30 day course of Bactrim and was on about a 20 day course of Alleve prior to this latest PSA test. I went off the Alleve as I did not want that to artificially lower my PSA.

I will… Continue

Robert,

Happy to hear the news. Since you still have part of a prostate, your PSA is always going to be something - here's hoping that 1.2 is something good.

Hey Robert!

Glad to see that your PSA seems to be stabilizing at last. Hang in there. If you get a couple more close to 1.2, I figure you may be in good shape.

Sure! But seeing as how you're up in Alaska, I don't think we're going to be meeting up early some Sunday morning to ride a 30-miler!

Robert,

My cryo was april 2007 done by Dr. Shandra Wilson at the University of Colorado. It was the wrong move as I look back. I have had a radical prostatecomy the year and I still have cancer. It had spread. Wish I had the RP in the first place. I think it would have gotten the cancer before it could spread. Good luck with all you do.

Thanks for the comment Robert. My husband Wendell is having his biopsy on Thursday. I suppose it sounds like we are putting the horse before the cart by studying up on different treatments but we are hoping to be as prepared as possible for decision making. I know that this is not something to be rushed but I think we need to know what our goals are before we start meeting with the appropriate physicians. Especially since the treatments are so different. It is good to learn from those who have gone before us and I certainly appreciate you sharing your experiences.
