I was deleted as well when I posted the letter I recieved from the FDA in response to my question if the FDA has a Board of Directors. They responded that they don't, as sitemaster said, they call them a "Team of Reviewers".

I also would like to say that I cannot find my way around this site, if it weren't for email notices I'd never see anything. Jremy, you mentioned healingwell.....a year ago I wrote up my story just like I wrote at yananow and they erased it and I...

I'd have a hard time starting hormone treatment with a reading of 0.1 I'd wait and see if the reading goes up, before I'd start. I have faith in HIFU ~ completely. But, I see you started...so best of luck on that junk.

got it! Is my reading right ~ that your PSA was tested prior to hormone treatment and it was 0.1 ? 4+ hours of treatment means they really took their time and did you up well, as my treatment only lasted 2.5 hours. Yours is a great story! I'm sur...

Ed, Post your story on the other page here that deals with HIFU, it's being linked to from other cancer sites, so reaches a larger audience: http://prostatecancerinfolink.net/2009/02/22/hifu-under-appreciated-or-over-promoted/ Lets get this thing ...

Oh so happy to hear more and more of us are hearing about HIFU. I had mine through International HIFU, who I cannot say enough good about as well, the thing is ~ they care (I think they work together -- they both use the Sonablate). They go out of...

the Japanese HIFU site states that the Gleason doesn't matter. http://www.hifu-jp.org/ they use the Sonablate. Here is the list of who is eligible: 1. Clinical stage T1-2N0M0 2. PSA less than 20 ng/ml 3. Any Gleason score 4. Prostate volumes of l...

Mike Scott, you said "Your doctor's comment would seem to me to be more accurate with reference to forms of treatment like EBRT, brachytherapy, cryotherapy, and HIFU." Yes, I had HIFU, why do you think the PSA is usually high after HIFU, and then...

I've been involved in the bickering, please understand the reason is that we are for the most part so happy we chose HIFU, and so we argue..."I had the best doctor!" or "I had the best machine!" If you go with Sonablate you shouldn't need drugs t...

Good luck Bob. I had to wiki that, and I read that supra pubic catheter cuts the stricture rate in half, I'm guessing you had supra rather than pubic?? Did you start to urinate normally 4 days post HIFU? Dr. Scionti instructed me to clamp off the ...

That same report gives HIFU a 1 in 172 chance of incontinence. That mattered more to me than sex. Sex is the same for me, I haven't talked to anyone who has ED, but I also wonder if some would admit it, so, who knows, but with surgery ED is 50% ac...

Each one of us is thrilled to hear we've "saved" another brother from the wrath of cut or radiate! I think I find that everyone believes they had the best doctor and the best procedure, because in the end--HIFU is the answer! I went in for the Alb...

Ron: After first line treatment, the patient's PSA is all over the place for all sorts of reasons (depending on the form of treatment). I would agree with your doctor that waiting for a significant period of time before taking a first post-treatment PSA is correct. One might argue over exactly how long, but 3 months is quite customary.

I just read that the Albatherm has a 52% redo rate. Read it here written in November 2007 by the Association Francaise d’Urologie, published in 2008

For the 117 patients there were 179 sessions of HIFU. In fact, 61/117 patients (52 percent) required two sessions of HIFU.

Hi Ron,
If you add someone as your friend they do NOT have your email address. We appreciate and shall abide by your wish to remain anonymous, and also appreciate you becoming involved and sharing information on HIFU. This is great. Keep it up. I am the one from Centennial CO, and I am a patient at the Univ. of Colo. with Dr. Crawford also. George

When you "add someone as a friend" does that mean he has your email address?
I find you all that share your photo and full name very daring, we live in a crazy world, and I've already had a couple refer to me in terms I don't deserve. So, I feel better being anonymous.

Ron: You can get Walter's "take" on his HIFU experience in the discussion entitled "Too Good to Be True?" IMHO this demonstrates (as usual) that outcomes to prostate cancer treatment can vary greatly from man to man depending on a multiplicity of factors.

Hi Ron,
I had the same trouble when I joined. It takes a little bit to get on board, we all have some trial and error. Your comment on HIFU below was left on your page.. Common error. To leave it on the HIFU site, go there, click REPLY and leave comment on that site. Mike straightens me out all the time

I had HIFU Dec.19th by Dr. S. Scionti of Hilton Head S. Carolina in Puerto Vallarta.

And yes, some men opt for partial HIFU. The doctor can see the cancer through the computer image. I had it all zapped as didn't want to take any chances.

HIFU is fantastic, no recovery (except for the damn catheter!), just cancer free! I will get tested every 3 months for quite a while. Yes, the treatment is nothing, a piece of cake, and no worry of what the radiaiton might do to you later on.

HIFU uses ultrasound energy, or sound waves, to heat and destroy specifically targeted areas of tissue. During HIFU, the sound waves pass through healthy tissue without causing damage. However, at the focal point of the sound waves (like a magnifying glass focusing the rays of the sun to burn a leaf), the tissue temperature rises to 90 degrees Celsius destroying the targeted tissue.

I totally recommend Dr. Scionti... HIFUcarecenter.com or internationalhifu.com
