My friend we can still chat about Christianity and you will find that I am not pro Christianity, though I have a passion for my saviour. But right now we are here and have the same common interest, so I now wish to deal with what we are going throug…

I believe you are right. This is not a religious website but one to encourage, and I believe what we have to do is to share what we go through as individuals, and perhaps in this sharing we might find another way to defeat cancer, and that is what I…

Adelino, about this world I know plenty, not because of theology, but because of bad and good experiences. You see, I did not have the skills that you have of having a mind to control the body my body and instead, my body controlled my mind, so when…

This discussion has hijacked a long and interesting journal of Sergio and his journey. i recommend that the faith discussion go elsewhere.

Yes, I know and all I can say is that Christianity does not know what Christ came into the world for. He came to save us from hell and damnation in this life and you are only going to know and understand this in a relationship, and that relationship…

The only aspect you may want to look into is the drive to classify things as the first mental reaction to what you come across: big/small, tall/short, good/bad, and ultimately right and wrong. At the end of our journey neither you nor I will be righ…

Hi Semirade, I am actually a Chan (rather than Zen) priest in the Linji tradition so we have quite a bit in common :) I'd say, don't worry so much about the classification of your practice (Zen, Chan, Tibetan, etc) but rather, about the practice its…

As I have mentioned right in the beginning do not look at Christianity, many Christians themselves do not understand their own faith, Jesus did not die on his cross to give us a religion but a way of life which infuses us with the love of God but Co…

Sergio - sorry to see that your numbers are rising. You are in our prayers. Indeed, no greater gift you can give your daughter than your perspective on life. You sound a lot like my dad!

Hi Sergio, glad to have met you yesterday at Princess Margaret. What we discussed yesterday with Dr Tannock was for me to go off Lupron and Avodart. He is going to keep tract of my Testosterone level. We will see what happens. Jan is very apprehensive and does not like the idea. However I am anxious to try it. See you later. Gord.

And that wouldn't be a "wrong" decision. These things are always immensely personal, and you and you doctor are the only ones who can make the decisions that feel best for you.

New problem started in my right hip where I had radiation. I think my hip flexors are strained and are often causing pain when I walk. Is this a side-affect of radiation? I will now have to start exercising and strengthening these muscles. At first I had thought it was more bone cancer but the symptoms were more muscle and movement related after closer monitoring. X-rays did not show anything skeletal to cause the pain. It was difficult for the oncologist to determine what the problem was. It definitely has to be radiation related.

For those interested,
I am further delayed getting on the "Venice" taxotere/aflibercept clinical study because my PSA is still dropping after radiation for bone metastases on my hip in May (PSA:17>6>4). Great news! It is going in the right direction. I am now also able to walk and play some table tennis. Let's hope it stays this way for some time.
Anyone had any experience with PSA dropping after radiation?
Peace,
Sergio

Sergio: The only "approved" therapy for Taxotere failures is mitoxantrone + prdnisone, which does very little other than lower one's PSA. In all honesty, if you fail the Tax regimen, I think your best bet is a clinical trial of an investigational agent, which is why I suggested you look at the information I directed you to, and talk to your oncologist about this. There are probably about a dozen different agents or combinations of agents in late stage II or Phase III clinical trials that might be worth considering, but you haven't failed Taxotere yet. Try to keep the glass at least half full!

Sergio: Not on the ASCO site. Go to http://prostatecancerinfolink.net and look at the blogs labeled ASCO annual meeting updates nos. 2, 3, and 4.

Sergio: Based on the data presented at ASCO last weekend, I think there may be better bets than mitoxantrone if you don't do well on Taxotere q3w.

Go to the main web site and look at the reports from the ASCO annual meeting. If you have questions I'd be happy to0 try to answer then for you.
