Hi Shawn, How are you doing ?? My PSA is playing "ping pong " with me last 6 months, I think I must check on this drug you mentioned "Abiraterone" in one of your prevoius emails. I have also dropped a email to Mike Scott, Eurologist in my side of the woods are difficult just to pick up phone and "question " them on this disease, great to have this social link to "keep in touch" with the people in the know "

2&1/2 months in (66 seeds) so perhaps early days yet. Off to see doc this pm to see about alternate meds as it would be good to get back to work and still be able to pee at the same time. Know what you mean about the orgasm thing -v.wierd!

Thanks for getting back. Interesting to hear how things going for you. Sounds like pspitive improvements all round. I heard similar reports to you about Viagra and regular exercise in the ere toon department. Things in this area seem fine at present for me. The bigger problem at the ment is flow. This was fine when taking alpha blockers but these seemed to be making me overly tired. Replacing them with saw palmetto helped the tiredness but I felt in real danger of locking up altogether as the flow got less and less so have gone back on the tamsulosin until I can get the doc to recommend a better alternative.

Keep well.

Hi Shawn

interesting to see you have been on AS for 6 years. I was thinking about pursuing this as an option and wish I had seen your story sooner. But given I would have to do AS for 22 years just to get 65 (which is at the low end of average patient ages I have seen quoted) I have decided to go for brachytherapy as the least worst choice.

Anyway, good luck with the investigations.

Good to hear from you. All is well here. Jimmy just passed his one year mark. PSA still undetectable. Continence was nearly 100% six weeks after surgery. ED getting better every day. Life is great!! Are you still riding since your accident? Sounds like you've had quite a time. When's your next PSA? How often will you be testing from here out? Take care.

Shawn: If you don't hear from Peter for a few days, it may just mean he's off in the veld somewhere with a bunch of tourists looking for lions and feeding the tourists warthog meatballs or something!

I have had a few communications with Dr. Coetzee at the Foundation. He's based in Pretoria. Tt looks like he and his colleagues have the right idea! Keep well. We'll have to find you a few more South Africans who are a little closer to home. I can't believe there aren't any!

Mike
