Shirley,

Thanks for the update. Two points:

1) Please communicate medical information directly to my office, not through our lovely and lively online social network.

2) If your intent is to educate the rest of our readers, and there is certainly a point to doing that and to your husband's story, then by all means do that. He has the authority to publicly share his story, which I never will. So if he wants to put your note to me in perspective, then I might suggest sharing the manner of his diagnosis (PSA, Gleason score) and the pathology findings (Gleason score, pathological stage). That will put real meaning behind your note that others can learn from.

Regards. By the way, we are now operational in Wichita (click here). I remember you guys driving down. Next time (oops, it's only one to a customer), it'll be a shorter drive.

:-)

Shirley - saw your note to Dr. Krongrad. Congrats! Every 3 months I find myself a little anxious waiting for Jimmy's PSA results. He's 18 months out. Your story is encouraging for us! Hope you're still having fun!!

Hi Shirley
I'm designing the "tree houses"/landing pads and have laid out the first 7 lines. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Post PC: Concerning ED, I assume Dave has worked his way through all the initial aids/treatments; Viagra, pump, shots
I could comment on each of those and more.
I will throw this idea out as a bubble and see if it floats to the top and generates any additional thoughts. For the next guy going through LRP:
For men with good blood flow prior to surgery the surgeon should consider modifying the procedure to protect and maintain the blood flow with the same care that he protects the nerves. I have ideas but I am not the surgeon.

Dave's PSA is still ZERO!!!

Now, if we could just get him over the ED issues.

Hi Shirley, I will be stretching the first 1000 ft. this winter when the leaves are off. I will keep you posted when its safe for humans. I did the vines too as a kid, and repelled of mountains, its a wonder I survived long enough to be a PC survivor.
Our home - Bed and Breakfast will also be open soon, so those that don't want to zip through the treetops can sit on our deck that has a panoramic 50 mile view of Carolina mountains, and sip coffee, cider, hot chocolate along with my wife's pastries.

We hit the 2 year anniversary of his surgery with still no detectable psa. ED still an issue, but we were encouraged with a little action on the anniversary date! Then Dave remembered that he took a little yellow pill rather than the blue. Hmmm... may have to make a switch.

Hi, Angela. We're doing great! Our 3rd child graduated from HS a couple weeks ago, and our 4th (youngest) got his drivers license today.

We do as many festivals as we can during the summer/fall... and tomorrow starts our first one for the season. A Fish Fry... and none of us like fish. LOL! Hopefully we'll sell lots of stickers!

Profile Information

Have you been diagnosed with prostate cancer?
no
What brings you to the New Prostate Cancer InfoLink social network?
We're big "Dr. Krongrad" fans. Anything to help.
Would you help us grow the network? Would you tell others about it?
Certainly!
About Me:
My husband had surgery for prostate cancer in 9/06. After MUCH research, we feel we found the best surgeon possible, Dr. Krongrad. (The fact that his practice is in Miami was an added bonus!)

Dave was only 52 when he had his surgery. Now, almost 20 months since his surgery, we're still dealing with ED issues. His PSA had been 0, but 3 months ago it went up some. They told us it may have been a fluke, who knows... and to not worry. They will retest in May and we'll go from there.

I was becoming consumed with Prostate Cancer, learning as much as I could and passing the information along to my husband. Finally it started to take its toll on me, and I needed a diversion. My sons had shown an interest in starting a business so I helped them and we got it going. We're not rich, but we're having fun!
