Dear Tony:

If you scroll to the very bottom of the list of figures they show, you will see a very clear footnote pointing out some critical limitations of the analysis. The footnote should, of course, have appeared ABOVE all of the figures!

I honestly don't know why some of these people do this. Try showing these data to the men who got treated with brachytherapy at the Philadelphia VA!

I have no doubt whatsoever that brachytherapy is a highly effective treatment (as are several other treatments), when carried out by highly trained specialists, in a whole bunch of men, many of whom who may never have needed treatment at all. But since many of the men who end up getting treated never needed it, what does anyone mean by "best?"

Do I think some men will find this information compelling? Sure. Do I think it is "good medicine"? No, I don't. I think it's a well-constructed, retrospective meta-analysis, and that there are only so many sound decisions you can make based on meta-analyses like this.

You are de-snowed. It hasn't started yet this year! Dunno why that happened.

Tony: You will make a great chapter leader ... and I will scrape up the plane fare to LV and happily eat Yorkshire Pudding with you so long as I don't have to go near any casinos!

Hope your luck at the Rio keeps up and you get good test results in October! It is always frustrating not to be able to leave comments on your blog. Also, great picture of you and your son (presuming).

Hi Tony,

I'm new to this site. My sister in Romania is in fact the one who signed up first here. Mike suggested I should contact you since we live in the same city.
My father has metastatic prostate Ca. I wanted to contact the Nevada Cancer center to get the most up to date info on available treatments. I see that you are being seen there, so maybe you can let me know a point of contact to start off my research.

I hope you are doing well with everything. I saw your picture posing next to the wild horses. Is that by Cold Creek? I was there for the first time yesterday and today. I did the hike up to Bonanza Peak. It was awesome.
Later, I hope...
Diana

Hi Tony,
You know...I am sort of chugging along...confused about what my next Hormone drug shall be as I has a shot of Lupron, then a one year vantas implant and now they want to give br Degarelix. I shall be lit up as an xmas tree. I am still training for the Colo. Senior games in June and am running in the 100M, 200M and throwing the Javelin. Not bad for a PCa survivor, 4 stents in heart and diabeties. I am competing in a Us Too T-shirt and looking for a PCa WIN. What is going on with you. Hanging tough I bet!!! . You are an inspiration to us "younger folks" Ha Ha. My one year diagnoses is today. What a year it has been! It melted my courage and forged me a new vision and purpose for my life. I previously thought I was on a slow downhill slide out of here....BUT I am born anew and filled with the love and purpose of God. Thanks for asking Tony

I was going to leave Mike E. a message saying, "Chickenpox? That'll teach you not to hang out around young schoolgirls!" but I'm not sure that Mike has the best sense of humor, so I left him a message that was a fraction more PC (which does NOT stand for prostate cancer)!
