Hi Virgil. I will look forward to seeing you at the In The Know awards...always a nice morning for that. Also, would you please help our Prostate Cancer Petition with a boost, by mentioning it in your next newsletter.... something like, "Please Learn more about the Petition to Increase Prostate Cancer Research Funding, at http://www.prostatecancerpetition.org " would be helpful. Thanks...and, Happy Weekend, to you, too. D

Virgil: I hear you but ...

Here's the case I laid on Arnon to think about.

"Look, you're a urologic oncologist. I'm a 46-year-old Black male merchant banker. I'm worth millions. My grandfather died of prostate cancer and my father had his prostate out in 1995 at 62 with a PSA of 2.7, T1c disease, and Gleason 3 + 4 which was confirmed post surgery. He's still alive but he gripes daily about the fact that they couldn't spare his nerve bundles (or rather they did but it didn't make a damn bit of difference).

"My PSA has been stable at 0.5 to 0.7 ng/ml for 6 years. So I'm asking you. Why wouldn't I take finasteride and monitor my PSA? Gimme an answer for heaven's sake! i live in a world where people have to make decisions and take risks ... fast!"

He's still thinking about it two days later!

If I actually meet this fictitious character, I'll let him know you need a big donation for The Prostate Net! :O)

Virgil: When you have a few momemnts, please have a look at the Primary Issues forum and see what you think about the finasteride discussion I have started. I would reeally value your input on this one because of the high risk in the African American community.
