And that wouldn't be a "wrong" decision. These things are always immensely personal, and you and you doctor are the only ones who can make the decisions that feel best for you.

So Sergio ... What's the scoop? Are you any closer to deciding what to do? Your on my mind a lot. :O)

New problem started in my right hip where I had radiation. I think my hip flexors are strained and are often causing pain when I walk. Is this a side-affect of radiation? I will now have to start exercising and strengthening these muscles. At first I had thought it was more bone cancer but the symptoms were more muscle and movement related after closer monitoring. X-rays did not show anything skeletal to cause the pain. It was difficult for the oncologist to determine what the problem was. It definitely has to be radiation related.

For those interested,
I am further delayed getting on the "Venice" taxotere/aflibercept clinical study because my PSA is still dropping after radiation for bone metastases on my hip in May (PSA:17>6>4). Great news! It is going in the right direction. I am now also able to walk and play some table tennis. Let's hope it stays this way for some time.
Anyone had any experience with PSA dropping after radiation?
Peace,
Sergio

Sergio: The only "approved" therapy for Taxotere failures is mitoxantrone + prdnisone, which does very little other than lower one's PSA. In all honesty, if you fail the Tax regimen, I think your best bet is a clinical trial of an investigational agent, which is why I suggested you look at the information I directed you to, and talk to your oncologist about this. There are probably about a dozen different agents or combinations of agents in late stage II or Phase III clinical trials that might be worth considering, but you haven't failed Taxotere yet. Try to keep the glass at least half full!

Sergio: Not on the ASCO site. Go to http://prostatecancerinfolink.net and look at the blogs labeled ASCO annual meeting updates nos. 2, 3, and 4.

Sergio: Based on the data presented at ASCO last weekend, I think there may be better bets than mitoxantrone if you don't do well on Taxotere q3w.

Go to the main web site and look at the reports from the ASCO annual meeting. If you have questions I'd be happy to0 try to answer then for you.

Hi Sergio. Glad to hear there's some progress (albeit probably a little slower than you'd like). What did the Taxotere trial doctors have to say last week? Anything hopeful?

I hope the inflammation and pain are subsiding.

Do you have a new target date for starting the Taxotere trial?

A week after radiation to my iliac bone and I am still experiencing affects of inflammation to the area which causes some pain and discomfort mostly by the evening or after being active (light activity even). 200 mg of ibuprofen does the trick. Radiation oncologist says this will take a few weeks to improve. Having some blood work and a visit to the trial docs May 28.
Thanks for your interest. You are all being very supportive.
